Colorado Academy Knowles Upper School
3800 South Pierce Street, Denver (Lakewood), CO
Classroom addition and major renovations.
2003
As Design Collaborator and Architect of Record at Mountain Design Group teamed up with conceptual design architect/interior designers Burkett Design . From preliminary concepts, we produced Fast Track construction drawings and specifications for six new classrooms, a brand new school entry, sky-lighted atrium, remodeled the bathrooms, expanded administrative offices of the Knowles “Upper School” building. The total project scope was 28,000 S.F. We designed for the required building code upgrades for the renovation of existing high school at a very reasonable cost. We worked closely with the general contractor, Fransen & Pittman, throughout all phases of design, estimates, contracts and construction. This close collaboration enabled the school to function with minimal disruption and no lost “classroom days.
Even though the project duration exceeded the 2-month summer recess. The final result integrated this plain c.1963 building into the modern design thematic of the entire Colorado Academy Campus.
